Rhiannon Mitchell

'Often people are searching for meaning and purpose in their lives, whether it’s trying to make sense of the past or working on the challenges that they are facing in the here and now. Connecting and building authentic therapeutic relationships allows for growth and self-exploration and the creation of meaningful change in a safe and holistic way. Understanding each person as an individual and how they experience life is a passion of mine, and it would be a privilege to start this process with you.' 

Background 

Since becoming registered as a psychologist with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) in 2010, Rhiannon has extensive experience working in a variety of settings including drug and alcohol services, adolescent's experiencing homelessness mental health services, inpatient clinical programs, educational settings and private practice.  Rhiannon is passionate about assisting clients with a range of mental health and well-being concerns including stress, anxiety, depression, adolescent mental health, life transitions, parenting challenges, trauma, perfectionism, procrastination, relationship difficulties, grief and loss, disordered eating, and overwhelm.

 
Rhiannon has completed a Bachelor of Arts, Bachelor of Psychology and Post Graduate Psychology studies. Rhiannon currently holds membership with the AAPi, the APS, and is registered with Medicare. Rhiannon regularly engages in professional development to gain further training in best practice psychological  treatments.

Modalities

Rhiannon is trained in the provision of the following therapy modalities: Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT); Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT),  Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Motivational Interviewing (MI) and Gottman skills.  

Areas of Focus

Rhiannon's current areas of focus are: women's mental health; mood and anxiety disorders; stress; grief and loss; life transitions, couples and relationship concerns; trauma; self-esteem and self worth; BPD support and long-term psychotherapy.
